Golden Arrows 3-2 Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs got their campaign off to a bad start as they suffered a 3-2 loss to Golden Arrows on Sunday afternoon.
Nkosikhona Dube put Arrows ahead of after three minutes before Chiefs leveled matters through Nkosi Ngcobo a few minutes later.
Yusuf Jappie restored the Durban side's lead in the 22nd minute but Yusuf Bunting brought Chiefs level once again after the halftime break.
However, Arrows got the winning goal midway through the second stanza courtesy of a strike from Syanda Dlamini.
Maritzburg United 2-1 Free State Stars
Maritzburg began their MDC season on a high, after they defeated Free State Stars 2-1 on Sunday morning.
Mohau Mokate gifted the Team of Choice the lead after 29 minutes with a fine glancing header, before Devon Saal doubled the lead in the 49th minute with a close-range finish.
Stars did manage to reduce the deficit in the latter stages of the second half, but Maritzburg held on for the win.
