Orlando Pirates began their MultiChoice Diski Challenge campaign with a 2-1 win over AmaZulu on Saturday morning.
Thabiso Kutumela opened the scoring after just seven minutes with a close range finish after some good work from Lourenco.
The lead was doubled shortly after the break when Kutumela found the back of the net with another close range finish.
Usuthu did managed to reduce the deficit in the 70th minute when Sandile Khumalo headed home, but that proved to be their final goal as the Buccaneers held on to claim three points.

Bloemfontein Celtic put on a fine showing as they registered a 3-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday morning.
Thabo Mile opened the scoring for the Free State outfit in the 30th minute, before Kabelo Dlamini made 2-0 shortly after the halftime break.
Mile managed to get his second late in the second half to round off an impressive win.
