Hendrick Eksteen had Chiefs' first effort of the half in the 25th minute, as the midfielder showed some fancy footwork before firing an effort straight at Kgothatso.

That was to be the best effort of the half, as the sides went into the break with the scores tied at 0-0.

However, Chiefs took the lead in the 54th as Mpho Khumalo took advantage of a poor kick from Kgothatso before drilling a low effort into the far corner.

Shandukani Mulovhedzi came to Chiefs' rescue in the 73rd minute, the shot-stopper pulled off a superb reflex save to keep out Mothusi Gopane's header.

Mduduzi Nyandeni doubled Chiefs' lead in the 82nd minute with calm finish from close range, after being teed up by Simphiwe Mtsweni.

Gopane pulled one back for Polokwane late on with a well taken volley from the edge of the area, but it wasn't enough as Chiefs held on for the win to move into second spot in Group A.
