The Siya crew broke the news on September 25 that SAFA had denied a proposal from the PSL to change the top flight's reserve league by imposing age restrictions, leaving the future of the MDC up in the air.
But now, two weeks after our story, indications are that the PSL will go ahead with its plan for clubs in the Absa Premiership to use players under the age of 21 as had initially been discussed by the board of governors prior to the start of the season.

SAFA acting CEO Russell Paul told the crew last month that a "youth competition" would fall under their watch as it becomes an amateur league by default, and as such, the mother body's NEC had rejected the request from the PSL.
The MDC has not been scrapped, and has instead received a boost with more matches added to the fixture schedule this year. But Siya sources have indicated that club will impose the age restrictions on themselves without needing permission.
