Goals from Sibongiseni Hlengwa and Given Thibedi secured victory for the Amakhosi at the weekend as they saw off Maritzburg United and Arthur Zwane's ranks will now end the year in ninth place in the MDC league table.
Chiefs are five points ahead of bottom-of-the-table Platinum Stars and nine away from leaders, Golden Arrows, giving them everything to play for once they return to action in the new year.
Speaking after their 2-0 win, Zwane told Chiefs' official website, "It is long overdue that we started winning consistently… We are now solid at the back and, as a result, they got a minimum of chances to strike at our goal.

"We could have scored more if you look at the opportunities that we created," observed Zwane. "However, I am content with the complete performance on the day. I am convinced that we are finally getting there. Our tactical awareness and decision-making was spot on."
It may be the festive period, but Zwane's players won't be taking it easy during the break. He said, "We have given the players a training programme to maintain their fitness during the break and we will test them when they get back. Remember, part of development is to teach responsibility and the boys are well aware of that.
"We will return to full training on 4 January 2018. Accordingly, we will have ten days to prepare for our next fixture against SuperSport United on 14 January."
