Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya has been called back to the first team, while Yusuf Bunting has joined Highlands Park on loan and Tristan Moses left for Mamelodi Sundowns, meaning that Zwane had to call upon some other names to get the job done.

Reamohetswe Lekoatsa, a second half substitute, managed to get the only goal of the game after Bruce Bvuma had saved a penalty, with Zwane pleased to see his ranks come away with a 1-0 win over Abafana Bes'thende on the opening day of the MDC.

He told the club's official website, "We started very well with a win. This could be attributed to starting the season with the core of the team from the last season. We have a handful of the players that left the team. Ntiya-Ntiya is in the first team and Bunting is on loan at Highlands Park while Moses is now at Mamelodi Sundowns. The focus is on developing the players of the future.

"Arrows are a tough nut to crack," said Zwane. "They are not champs by fluke. They gave us a good game to measure our character going forward… It was tougher due to the pitch conditions. The pitch was spongy due to rain and the other two prior matches. But, I am happy the lads responded well and showed hunger. We scored a goal and kept a clean sheet. That's a good start to the season."

Senior players, Bhongolethu Jayiya, Ryan Moon and Letlogonolo Mirwa also featured in the game.
