Orlando Pirates began their DStv Diski Challenge campaign with a 2-0 win over Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday afternoon at Dobsonville Stadium.
The first stanza did not produce any goals, as Boitumelo Radiopane broke the deadlock for Pirates four minutes inside the second stanza.
Radiopane sealed the three points for the Buccaneers and grabbed his brace in the last minute.
Mamelodi Sundowns 4-1 Bloemfontein Celtic
Mamelodi Sundowns had a perfect start in Group 2 after drubbing Bloemfontein Celtic 4-1 on Saturday morning at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Nine-man Swallows were held to a 1-1 draw by ten-man Baroka in the opening match in Group 2 on Saturday morning at Dobsonville Stadium.
Dan Ndlovu broke the deadlock for Bakgaga in the 35th minute but only for Sphesihle Mbhele to get the equaliser for the Birds two minutes before the break.
Swallows were down to ten men in in the 65th minute after Vusi Mkhwanazi was sent off while four minutes later the sides were equal with ten men on the field after Siphiwe Nkosi was also red-carded for Baroka.
Augustine Mahlonoko should have snatched the winner for the visitors in the last ten minutes but missed a penalty while the Birds finished the game with nine men after Siphiwe Nkosi was sent off in the last six minutes.
