DStv Diski Challenge Wrap 09-10 October

Stellenbosch FC 4-1 Kaizer Chiefs

Ten-man Kaizer Chiefs came unstuck against Stellenbosch FC in a DStv Diski Challenge clash which saw a 4-1 loss at the Idas Sports Valley Stadium on Saturday.

Stellies took a commanding three-goal lead at halftime through Fuad Johnson, Devon Titus and Mervin Boij, while Chiefs had Bhongo Lawana red-carded for a second bookable offence.

A comeback appeared from the Amakhosi following the second half after Puso Dithenjane halved matters, but Roy-Keane Avontuur decided otherwise as he restored his side's three-goal advantage.

SuperSport United 3-1 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates missed out on consecutive wins with a 3-1 loss against SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, who moved into eighth-place.

Matsatsantsa's intentions were clear as goals from Sbusiso Maziko, Oswin Appollis and Nkosana Maseko ensured a three-goal lead at the break.

The Buccaneers hinted a comeback in the second half through Casius Spandiel, but United sustained dominance for their second win of the season.

Royal AM 1-3 Cape Town City

Jaedin Rhodes's double spear-headed Cape Town City to a 3-1 victory over Royal AM at the Idas Valley Sports Stadium to move into the top-half contingent.

Royal AM, who had come off a loss to Marumo Gallants FC, were first out of the starting blocks through Sanele Radebe before Rhodes levelled and got a brace with Ashley Nel on target too.

Maritzburg United 1-1 Golden Arrows

Maritzburg United needed to overturn a first half deficit against Golden Arrows in the KwaZulu-Natal derby at home to see a 1-1 stalemate.

Abafana Besthende looked on course to victory when Olebogeng Ntlhaile grabbed the opener, but Ashley Wyngaard fired the Team of Choice level later on.

Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 Swallows FC

Mamelodi Sundowns landed another win in as many matches following a 3-0 triumph against Swallows FC to go to the top of the table.

Masandawana edged Cape Town City last time out, and a brace from Jerome Karelse and Kabelo Moagi's finish gave them victory and left the Dube Birds winless at the bottom.

Sekhukhune United 4-1 Marumo Gallants FC

Sozabile Dlamini's first half hat-trick led Sekhukhune United to a 4-1 victory over Marumo Gallants FC and prevented the visitors top spot in Polokwane.

Gallants entered the weekend atop and looked to regain the summit, but Dlamini struck minutes apart and a fourth loomed in the second half but the post interfered.

David Mathebula's men got one back at the death through West Kgwetiane's stunner, but Lungile Mokoena ran clear at the other end to hand Babina Noko a fourth.

Baroka FC 0-1 Chippa United

Baroka FC lost their run of two straight wins against Chippa United, who recorded a 1-0 win in Sunday's action at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Thulani Mini's second half goal ensured the Chilli Boys victory and ninth-place, whilst Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele failed to consolidate second spot.
