Another Chiefs Blow Ahead Of CBL Cup?

Another Chiefs Blow Ahead Of CBL Cup?

Kaizer Chiefs will have to approach the Carling Black Label Cup semi-final against Orlando Pirates, at least in the starting line-up, without a natural striker.

Chiefs had Ashley Du Preez as a recognized number nine in the previous Soweto Derby just over a week ago, where his pace on counter-attacks gave Pirates problems. However, in addition to Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana ruled out of the clash, Amakhosi will be playing without a natural striker from the onset, as Du Preez has not yet made the line-up voted by fans.

Keagan Dolly, Khama Billiat, Kgaogelo Sekgota and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo are the four attackers voted in the Glamour Boys' latest CBL Cup starting XI. Dolly and Billiat will have to carry the goalscoring responsibilities, with the Zimbabwean's form a concern for Amakhosi.

Billiat has yet to get into his best form this season, as he is without a goal in 11 appearances in all competitions. Dolly, who knows the Zimbabwean well from their early days at Ajax Cape Town (renamed Cape Town Spurs) and Mamelodi Sundowns, says his attacking partner needs one goal to turn his season around.

"I think with Khama he's been long in the game, he's experienced, I think his experience in times like this when he's struggling to score goals for the club, I think he came out on top all the time," Dolly told journalists in a press conference at SuperSport studios.

"We all know Khama Billiat is a quality player, we all know his strengths and I think it's going to take one game and one goal that's going to change this.

"I think for myself as well, I started this season very slow but look I started scoring, I started getting my confidence back and I think one goal will help Khama a lot," he said.

Chiefs have had to use different combinations upfront for different reasons this season, as Sekgota started from the bench in the previous derby. With Sekgota set to start in the CBL Cup, Dolly says they have been working on building relationships off the pitch to make their combinations seamless on the pitch.

"I think we're getting there, once we do get there, then you get a knock, you get a change of tactics and you play with different players and I think once we get consistency in the team, with us as players, taking some of the chances," he went on.

"I think we're getting used to each other, we're working hard off the field to create those relationships," he added.
