Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane says he would welcome the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the DStv Premiership although he has raised his reservations about the technology.

Chiefs should have been awarded what appeared to be a legitimate goal in Saturday's Carling Black Label Cup semi final when Ashley Du Preez dispatched a shot past Siyabonga Mpontshane, only for the linesman to chalk it off as an offside, although subsequent replays show that he might have gotten it wrong.

Talk of introducing the VAR technology into the PSL has been ongoing although factors like the costs involved and the lack of stadium ownership by clubs have often arisen.

However, now that these talks have intensified, Zwane says he is open to the idea of having the technology introduced locally, although it could affect the flow of the game as we know it.

"Look, I didn't even know [that it was being tested] but I think we need that [VAR]. Although, though for me at some point I think that it delays the progress of the game and sometimes, it kills the momentum because you gonna have to wait all the time when there's something that has happened," Zwane told journalists at the FNB Stadium.

"We are trying by all means to take the game to another level and of which we allow it to take place and that would be a plus for South African football at large," he continued.
