Sfaxien are yet to record a victory in Group B after they lost their opening match 1-0 to Egyptian giants Zamalek and drew 1-1 with Congolese side AC Leopards. This leaves the Juventus of the Arabs on one point, five points adrift of Zamalek and two adrift of second placed Pirates.
Only two sides qualify from the group so that means that the hosts will need to capitalise on their home ground advantage to give them a good chance of progressing.
Of late the Tunisian outfit has struggled and currently sit in fourth position in the Tunisian Ligue 1 and look to be out of the title race. They are 13 points behind third place ES Tunis and 18 points adrift of leaders Club Africain.
Sfaxien have seen a mass exodus of players to European leagues over the last few seasons which has clearly contributed to their struggles.
The Sfax-based side have only been able to record one win in their last 10 league matches, losing two and drawing the rest.
Speaking to Pirates official website ahead of the game, Assistant Coach Teboho Moloi is not counting on Sfaxien's recent poor form, noting that Pirates expect a tough encounter.
"It's going to be a difficult game for us. They are tactically strong and just a good side all around. They qualify for CAF tournaments every year which indicates the calibre of the team they are," he said.

Nevertheless, the Buccaneers will be hoping to capitalise on Sfaxien's struggles of late and secure the maximum three points which would go a long way to helping them progress from Group B.
