Mamelodi Sundowns Captain Fully Recovered

Mamelodi Sundowns defender and captain, Alje Schut did not feature in the team's last outing, in the Nedbank Cup tie against Platinum Stars. Despite the absence of the 34-year-old, the Brazilians sealed their passage to the next round with a 3-1 win over the Phokeng-based side and will now face Mpumalanga Black Aces in the quarter-finals. The Dutch-born defender, who missed the game due to a muscle calf injury, is now back at training and will use the international FIFA break to recover fully. Sundowns' media officer,Thulani Thuswa, confirmed that Schut is fine and that the injury was not a serious one. "Schut was left out as a precautionary measure, as the injury was not a serious one. The doctors and the technical team decided that he should have rested so that the injury would not be aggravated. He is now fine and recovering well," Thuswa confirmed. Sundowns' next game is in the CAF Champions league, where they will be facing TP Mazembe in the second leg of their two-legged affair, and the captain is expected to be fully fit and available for selection. Pitso Mosimane's next league fixture will be against Black Aces, on April 8, four days before the Nedbank Cup clash against the same team.
