SAFA Make A Plea To Mzansi For Bafana Bafana

Bafana Bafana, who are the only unbeaten team in Group E of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, are preparing to go into their final group match needing only one point to qualify for the tournament to be held in Egypt later this year.

The South African senior national team has assembled in Tunis in Tunisia to prepare for the all-important upcoming match.

With Stuart Baxter and Bafana on a quest to book a place in the Afcon finals, a call has been made to the multitudes of Mzansi's football fans to show their support to Baxter and his team, as well as the other national sides by wearing their national team colours.

"With the qualification of the U20 men (Amajita) and Senior Women's National Team (Banyana Banyana) for their respective FIFA World Cups in the middle of this year, the U23 men beginning their CAF U23 AFCON campaign (in two-legged encounter against Angola) and Bafana Bafana's immediate quest for a place in the AFCON 2019 finals, there is no better time to make a call to the nation to start Football Friday.  Fans all across South Africa are asked to show their support by wearing their Yellow Bafana Bafana/Banyana Banyana/U23 men/Amajita jerseys this coming Friday," read a statement from SAFA Media.

"This also includes showing their support this coming Friday for the U23 Men in Angola and this weekend for Bafana Bafana on Sunday in Sfax at 18h00 (19h00 SA time). The effects of the 12th man are well known in sporting circles, and with the players knowing that they have the support of an unwavering nation behind them, they can only elevate their game to a level that would resonate with the support of the nation," read the statement, in part.
