The Madrid number one has come under a lot of criticism from the fans and the media for his performances this season, while the fans have often showed their frustration by whistling at the 34-year-old.

Casillas' case is not being helped by the fact that Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea, is being touted as his potential replacement for Los Blancos and the Spanish national side.

And Xavi, who has the World Cup and two European Championships with Casillas for Spain, feels the criticism is unfair.

"I don't like what's happening to Iker and it's unfair what's going on," Xavi said at his press conference.

"He did so much for Madrid and Spain. I hope it all changes. He deserves better treatment."

Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique, confirmed that Xavi is set to start his final league game for the Catalan Giants, as he heads to Qatari side Al Sadd at the end of the season.
