Just few weeks after leaving Wydad Casablanca in Morocco, another South African coach is heavily wanted in Tanzania, the Siya crew understands.
Insiders both in South Africa and Tanzania have indicated that Yanga SC are looking for a new coach who can fit into their project.
The Siya sources have indicated that the club was looking at two former Orlando Pirates coaches but then their focused option is Rulani Mokwena.
"Yeah, Yanga, they are looking for a new coach and they were looking at two coaches who are the best in Africa and that's where Rulani comes to be mentioned. They are believed to have been looking at Jose Riveiro and Rulani Mokwena but with Riveiro linked to Al Ahly 100% then the only option is Rulani Mokwena. That's the situation with Yanga and Rulani at the moment," the Siya source close to the player stated.
The second insider stated that Yanga have already planned for new signings and they are looking for a coach who will fit into their project from next season.
"Yanga are seriously looking for a new coach and they have a project to accomplish and they prepared good signings for a new coach who can help them accomplish that project. They are believed to be settling for Rulani Mokwena. From the way things are, he is in the forefront to get that job," the second told the Siya crew.
However, Yanga's interest doesn't necessarily mean Mokwena would eventually move to the Tanzanian club, as he may be holding out for a return to South Africa, particularly with the Pirates job available.
The current Yanga SC head coach is Hamdi Miloud, who had replaced former TS Galaxy mentor Sead Ramovic. Miloud boasts an excellent record of victories since he took over. Even though, the team is playing well, they have not extended the contract of Miloud yet so they can still bring in a new coach.
Meanwhile Mokwena, the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, recently left Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca after the club was not happy with their failure to qualify for next season's CAF Champions League.
Soccer Laduma contacted Mokwena's agent Steve Kapeluschnik regarding the jobs at both Yanga and Orlando Pirates but was unavailable to comment on any interest from Bucs.
This developing situation presents an intriguing career crossroads for the highly-rated young coach. Yanga SC offer the chance to be part of an ambitious project, while a potential Pirates return would bring him back to a club with deep family history. As both clubs prepare for crucial upcoming seasons, the resolution of this coaching situation will be closely watched across African football.
For Mokwena, the decision represents not just his next career step but potentially a defining choice between rebuilding his reputation outside South Africa or returning to familiar territory where expectations will be immediately high.
