Xavi left Barcelona to join Qatari side Al Sadd after lifting 25 trophies with the Catalan giants.

The 35-year-old got a proper send off by his club, whilst Casillas left Real Madrid following a tearful press conference with no club representative present.

A second conference was quickly arranged with president Florentino Perez, which just worsened the situation.

"He is my friend and one of the giants of the game; I am disappointed at the way he left Real. He deserves much better," Xavi told AS.

The midfield maestro also confirmed that he feels happy at his new club and is ready to lift more silverware with Al Sadd.

"I feel really great to be here. The team here is like a family, a group constantly trying for success," he added.

"We are trying to make me fit and faster and aim for the same goal as everyone else - winning trophies.

"I know Al-Sadd are a team with a history of trophies, both domestic and continental."
