Italy midfielder Ricardo Montolivo will miss next month's World Cup after suffering a fractured tibia in the side's 0-0 draw the Republic of Ireland. The AC Milan midfielder was stretchered off after only 15 minutes, after colliding with Ireland's Alex Pearce during the goalless draw at Craven Cottage. And the national team's doctor, Enrico Castellacci, confirmed after the draw that Montolivo's hope of participating in Brazil are over. "It's what we feared, a fractured tibia," said Castellacci "It will probably need some months, Riccardo is out of the World Cup. He didn't deserve this." Meanwhile, head coach, Cesare Prandelli, admitted he was stunned by Montolivo's injury. "The game was marked by the misfortune that Riccardo suffered," said Prandelli "It's difficult to talk about the technical things when something like that happens. We are all stunned by what happened."
