So the Nedbank Cup commenced in spectacular fashion this past weekend with a few gritty results.
No more so than the match involving Orlando Pirates. Pirates came from two goals down to make it 3-2, just for Thanda Royal Zulu to equalize it late in extra-time. The game was finally won by Pirates on penalties. What can we take from this encounter?
One, we showed a fighting spirit. This is the type of approach needed if we want to end the season off on a good note. Another gem we can take from the game is that Kermit Erasmus scored.
Players on goal scoring droughts tend to kick start their confidence with a goal in such circumstances. With Pirates needing all the ammunition available, and Erasmus possibly coming good at this stage of season, he might just prove to be the catalyst if we want to be successful this year.
Our hopes of winning the ABSA Premiership are slim but we could look into the Nedbank Cup as a source of Silverware. Do you think our hard-earned victory will spear-head us into winning the competition?
