Mendes revealed that his client would cost clubs around £300 million if Real wish to sell him, but his current buyout clause is reportedly much higher.

The Portuguese super-agent was asked by the BBC what Ronaldo was truly worth and he responded with the following, "Cristano Ronaldo? One billion, his buyout clause one billion, so it is one billion." he told BBC Sport.

Mendes, who represents the likes of Jose Mourinho, David De Gea and Radamel Falcao, spoke about life as an agent and believes that being a good one requires trust and hard work.

"Being an agent means many different things," he added

"I'm someone normal, I'm working hard every single day. I have ambitions, determination and being honest, doing the right things... this is most important."

The 49-year-old finally touched on FIFA and UEFA's stance on third party ownership of players around the world, and Mendes believes it shouldn't be banned, but just more controlled overall.

"FIFA and UEFA are not the police," he concluded

"I think that's it's very important to establish rules, the right rules, but not to stop it."

Ronaldo joined Real Madrid for a then world record fee of £80 million in 2009 from Manchester United, and has since scored 288 goals in 277 matches.
