His Philosophy Remains Intact - Reader's Voice

His Philosophy Remains Intact - Reader's Voice

The man who has walked the windy roads and ran for his life - Steve Komphela- is proving he is beyond his intellectuals.

I am not a fan of Komphela's impeccable English, more often than not it loses translation down the line. Komphela is a football master, not the Queens language tutor, he should be scrutinized from a football point of view and nothing else.

During his tenure as Kaizer Chiefs mentor, Komphela fought battles that wasn't his. Management faults are not his blunders. When club manager Bobby Motaung bought below standard players, Komphela made it clear that the new signings were not of his preference but that "they fit the Chiefs way."

Instead of attacking 'Bobsteak' the Khosination was barking up on the wrong tree. The Amakhosi faithful came for Komphela, dishing out the words you'll never hear in church or unless Gabola.

Now that he has closed that chapter, Komphela, is happy to steady the Golden Arrows ship. In his first season with Abafana Be'Sthende, though he joined half way through the campaign, Komphela led the Kwa Zulu-Natal based outfit to a tenth placed finish on the log.

'Koloi' as Komphela is nicknamed has already surpassed the 30 point mark that is assumed to be the safe point from the drop zone.

With seven games to go, though not known when the league will resume, Komphela must be high in confidence that he will finish in the top eight bracket.

Arrows is trading with a mini budget compared to the mighty Amakhosi but Komphela's philosophy remains up there with the best. Though he depends on his side's development graduates, Komphela has never wept over not getting adequate personnel to fight this gigantic battle. Komphela is a living testimony that money can't buy you success.

Football is like a lace and it reveals everything. I hope you understand, I don't want to be misquoted.
