FC Barcelona have been blessed with some world-class players in their time, so today we take a look at the 10 most expensive midfielders the Spanish giants have purchased.

According to Transfermarkt, former Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Arda Turan and former La Masia graduate Cesc Fabregas lead the list with a fee of €34 million (R607 million) each.
In third place is one of Barcelona's most loved stars, Ronaldinho. The Brazilian was bought for €32.2 million (R575 million) from French side Paris Saint-Germain in 2003.
Fourth place goes to former Valencia ace Gerard Lopez, who was signed in the 2000/01 season for a fee of €24 million (R428 million).
World Cup winner Rivaldo is fifth in the Catalan club's list of their most expensive midfielders. The Brazilian began his European club journey at Deportivo La Coruna, but was snapped up by Barca for €23.5 million (R419 million) after many impressive performances for Depor.
Sixth place is a two-way tie, with Geovanni and Deco each costing the Blaugrana €21 million (R375 million).
Alex Song is the only African in the list and cost the Catalan club quite a penny when he joined from Arsenal. The signing was a surprise at the time, and the fee paid for the Cameroonian was €19 million (R339 million).
Ivan Rakitic joined the side from Sevilla last season and has proved to be shrewd piece of business. The Croatian cost Barca €18 million (R321 million), and has helped guide them to a host of trophies already.

Former Arsenal midfielder Aleksandr Hleb is the Spanish giants' 10th most expensive midfielder in their history, having arrived for a fee of €17 million (R303 million).
