Euro 2016 Report: France 2-0 Albania 15 June 2016

Euro 2016 - Group A Result: France 2-0 Albania Date: 15 June 2016 Venue: Stade Velodrome
France netted twice at the death to beat Albania 2-0 in their European Championship Group A clash on Wednesday. The chances were few and far between in the first half, but Albania came close in the 25th minute when Elseid Hysaj marauded down the right wing to send a cross towards the near post, but Hugo Lloris was ready to intervene. Les Bleus struggled to break down the opposition and were jeered off the field at the break as the fans expressed their discontent with the state of affairs at 0-0. Two minutes into the second half France had a great chance. Olivier Giroud drifted wide and sent a cross in that took a touch before finding Kinglsey Coman, but his header went just wide. Albania were agonisingly close to taking the lead in the 53rd minute. A terrific cross hit Ermir Lenjani and hit the post with Lloris desperately trying to get across in time. France then did the same at the other end as Giroud hit the woodwork. A cross from Patrice Evra picked out the Arsenal striker but his headed attempt at goal found the post as well. The tournament hosts left it extremely late but found their winner in the 90th minute when a cross from Adil Rami came to Antoine Griezmann who headed home with aplomb. In the final moments of the clash France scored their second goal as Payet cut in from the left to place a shot in the far-bottom corner of the Albania net.
