The father of France and Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo helped his son in his development.
Hafid Benzema told GloboEsporte that Ronaldo and his son are close friends, while Ronaldo de Lima has always been the idol of the French forward.
"Karim gets on with Cristiano Ronaldo, who helped him with his development and adaptation at the club. They arrived at the same time and they're friends," he said.
"Karim's talent is Brazilianesque. The ball never gets away from him and he wanted to be like Ronaldo (de Lima) and to imitate his runs.
"They have a similar style. He has been gifted with the ball since he was a kid", he stated.
Benzema is one of the shining stars in Brazil, scoring three goals in France's three group stage games, and his father insists his leadership skills will be instrumental in France's Round of 16 clash with Nigeria.
"Napoleon never fought alone; he led an army. Karim wants to do the same, but he always plays for the team," Benzema's father added.
France will face Nigeria on Monday, June 30, in the last 16.
