Adnan Januzaj is one of Manchester United's greatest prospects for the future and last season he proved it, with a handful of fine performances last season.
Not that it says much, but the 19-year-old was probably amongst the best players at our club last season. In fact, many people may have thought that he would be the successor to the number seven jersey worn by club legends, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Eric Cantona and George Best. However, Januzaj has taken on an even bigger task…
He will be the first man to take on the number 11 jersey that has been left vacated by Ryan Giggs. If ever there was a Manchester United legend, it has most certainly been Ryan Giggs.
Giggs spent a whopping 24 years at our fine football club, amassing over 700 appearances, 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two Champions Leagues and a whole host of other honours.
Until last season, where Giggs only made 12 appearances, he was the only player to score in every single Premier League season since its conception.
A lot more can be said about Giggs and his legendary status, but it's not the point I'm trying to make here. Young Adnan Januzaj has a lot to live up to as the new incumbent of that now-legendary number 11 shirt. He certainly has the talent to follow a career that emulates Ryan Giggs', and it seems like he's more than capable of dealing with pressure.
This is, in my opinion, pressure of the highest order. Let's hope he will be able to do the number justice.
