Germany were denied a winning start in their UEFA Nations League opener following a draw with Spain, who struck in the dying stages of the second half.
A debut for Robin Gosens and return for Kevin Trapp, Leroy Sane and Antonio Rudiger headlined the Germans' lined-up, while new Manchester City signing Ferran Torres also debuted for the Spaniards.
The Germans threatened the opener on nine minutes through Thilo Kehrer's back-post header following a ball from the left-side, but David De Gea steered the attempt for a corner-kick.
Spain also posed a threat after a defensive error from Emre Can minutes later released Rodrigo, who could not capitalise while De Gea helped a close-range shot into touch.
De Gea was given more work following the midway stage with an acrobatic one-hand palm from Sane's thumping curler, as Trapp denied Jose Luis Gaya from close-range at the other end.
After a goalless first half, Spain handed a debut to Ansu Fati at halftime, with veteran Jesus Navas making way while Die Mannschaft were unchanged from the first spell.
It was Germany who drew first blood on 51 minutes after Timo Werner skipped past a few challenges in the area to find the bottom corner following a surging cross from Gosens.
Germany should've doubled their advantage ten minutes later when a counte-rattack led by Sane released Werner, who fired into the side-netting with the goal in sight.
That happened to be Sane's last involvement, as the Bayern Munich winger walked off the field after a knock and was replaced by Matthias Ginter, while De Gea tipped Niklas Sule's header to safety a little later.
Fati appeared to have levelled matters after heading home a cross from the right but it was disallowed following a foul, however La Roja did eventually get the equaliser right at the death after Gaya cropped up unmarked at the near post to slot home for the draw.
