Result: Germany 1-2 Portugal
Date: 04 June 2025
Venue: Allianz Arena
Ronaldo kept his spot upfront for the Portugal attack, which also included Pedro Neto and Bruno Fernandes, while Germany handed starts to Marc Andre-ter Stegen, Leroy Sane and Nick Woltemade.
The game got off to a lively start, with Ronaldo getting the first chance after seven minutes but the Al Nassr star sent his left-footed strike straight at Ter Stegen.
Germany had to wait until the 20-minute mark for a couple big chances, but Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa produced two superb saves to deny Woltemade and Leon Goretzka in quick succession.
That proved to be the final big opening from both sides in the first half, although Roberto Martinez's men let themselves down with their decision-making after squandering a couple counter-attacks.
However, Germany needed just three minutes into the second half when Joshua Kimmich did well to pick out the run of Florian, who sent a fine header beyond Costa despite appeals from the Portugal players about an offside from Woltemade.
Portugal got back on level terms in the 63rd minute when Francisco Conceicao was afforded time and space outside the area and sent a super strike into the far corner, leaving Ter Stegen with no chance.
Martinez's troops completed the turnaround five minutes later when Nuno Mendes combined with Bruno Fernandes before teeing up Ronaldo for the simple tap in for his 137th goal for the national team.
Portugal were able to see out the closing stages and secured their spot in Sunday's final, where they await the winner between Spain and France.
