Juventus superstar and Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has not been called up for his country's latest national squad for the upcoming international break.

The news comes amid the ongoing rape allegations against Portugal's record goalscorer, who was also left out of Fernando Santos' squad last month.
Back then, the Portugal coach said Ronaldo needed time to settle in at his new club in Italy, but it is unclear whether or not that is again the reason for his most recent snub.
"In the future, nothing prevents Cristiano from giving his input to the selection," Santos said during a press conference, according to A Selecao's official Twitter account.
Portuguese sports daily A Bola has reported that Ronaldo contacted the Portuguese Football Federation and spoke to both president Fernando Gomes and Santos in requesting to be omitted from international duty in October and November.
Meanwhile, Euro hero Eder, who scored the injury-time winner against France in 2016, has been recalled to the squad. The striker was born in Guinea-Bissau but moved to Portugal as a child. He recieved his first call-up since October 2017 after impressing for Lokomotiv Moscow this season.
Renato Sanches also returns to the fold after his fine start for Bayern Munich this season. The 2016 UEFA European Championship Young Player of the Tournament was also part of last month's squad, when he made his first Portugal appearance in one and a half years.

Portugal will face Poland in the UEFA Nations League on 11 October, before playing a friendly against Scotland three days later.
