After Neymar and his Paris Saint-Germain teammates trolled Erling Haaland's celebration during and after the club's UEFA Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, the reason for the mockery has now seemingly been revealed.

Neymar and a number of his PSG teammates – chief among them Kylian Mbappe – mocked Haaland during their 2-0 win over Dortmund by imitating his now-famous meditation celebration during and after the match.
The PSG stars have received backlash from various sections of the media for what was perceived to be an immature and unsporting act, although it now appears that the trolling was done in response to a post Haaland was said to have made on Snapchat – which has since proved to be fake.

The alleged Snapchat post from Haaland featured an image of the Norway international wearing a BVB kit, along with the word "Paris" drawn across his chest, and captioned: "My city, not yours."
Neymar and his teammates are believed to have seen the image on social media ahead of the match, which prompted the ill-informed celebrations, and the Brazil international even posted an image of his own on Instagram, along with the caption: "Paris is our city, not yours."

The former FC Barcelona star and his colleagues have since been left with egg on their faces after the image was revealed to be fake, but they will take solace in the fact that their side has progressed to the next round of the UCL at the expense of Haaland and Dortmund.
