One of Chelsea's most expensive January signings has been left out of the club's UEFA Champions League squad – here is why.
Chelsea 'Make Transfer Decision' On Felix
The recent window was a busy one for the Blues, who spent more money than any other club in Europe as they continued what appears to be a rebuild under their new ownership.
Malo Gusto, who was signed from Olympique Lyon, will remain at the French giants on loan until the end of the campaign, while Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos is still awaiting a work permit.
This means head coach Graham Potter will only be working with six of his new arrivals in the meantime, with UEFA's rules restricting clubs from adding more than three January acquisitions to their UCL squad at the halfway mark of a campaign.
The English manager has since opted to add Joao Felix, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez to his 25-man selection, leaving centre-back Benoit Badiashile unavailable for European matches despite his impressive start to life in England.
Badiashile, 21, has become a regular in domestic competition since arriving from Monaco, having started four consecutive Premier League games, forming a promising partnership with the more experienced Thiago Silva.
Aubameyang 'Close' To Shock Move
Noni Madueke and David Datro Fofana have joined the defender in being left out of Chelsea's Champions League squad.
