Group D
Sporting Lisbon 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur suffered their first defeat of the season after going down 2-0 to Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening.
With the recent weekend's Premier League action postponed, Antonio Conte's side came into the clash well-rested and looking for a second successive win.
Sporting were also convincing winners in their group stage opener last week, after cruising to a 3-0 victory over Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt.
Conte kept faith with the same side that started in the win over Olympique Marseille, Son Hueng-Min looking to open his account for the season.
That was not the case for Son, who endured a frustrating evening and was hauled off for Dusan Kulusevski in the 72nd minute.
Sporting did go close to snatching a win in the 90th minute when Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris produced a superb save to keep out Pedro Porro's strike which seemed destined for the far corner.
The hosts took the lead from the resultant corner as Paulinho nodded home a corner at the near post before fellow substitute Arthur Gomes sealed the win with a neat finish in second-half stoppage time.
Group C
Viktoria Plzen 0-2 Inter Milan
Inter Milan got their first win in the UEFA Champions League group stages after defeating Viktoria Plzen 2-0 at the Doosan Arena.
The Serie A giants started their campaign with a defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich last week, while Plzen conceded five against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
Inter were still without Romelu Lukaku, but that void was filled by Eden Dzeko who opened the scoring for the visitors on 20 minutes after being set up by strike partner Joaquin Correa.
Simone Inzaghi's charges managed to hold their lead going to the break and their task was made easier on the hour mark when Plzen was reduced to 10 men when Pavel Bucha was shown a straight red card.
Inter's numerical advantage paid off nine minutes later when Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries doubled the lead with his first of the competition.
