Real Madrid came from behind to register a 2-1 win over Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.   Bayern were dealt a blow after just eight minutes when Arjen Robben was forced off with an injury, being replaced by Thiago Alcantara.

The game's first real chance arrived after 19 minutes as Rafinha lined up an effort from distance, with Keylor Navas managing to deal with it.

It was Bayern who took the lead on 28 minutes as Joshua Kimmich found the back of the net with a clever finish at Navas' near post after being played through by Madrid loanee James Rodriguez.

Los Blancos looked to hit back and they were rewarded just before the break when Marcelo fired into the bottom corner with a fine strike

Ten minutes into the second half, Los Blancos went ahead as Lucas Vazquez pounced on a defensive error to play in Marcos Asensio, who calmly fired past the on-rushing Sven Ulreich.

The Bavarians nearly leveled matters two minutes later, but Navas produced a fine save to keep out Ribery's stinging effort from just inside the box.

Zinedine Zidane was forced into a change after 66 minutes after Dani Carvajal picked up an injury. He was replaced by Karim Benzema.

With 15 minutes remaining, Juppy Heynckes threw on Christian Tolisso for Javi Martinez as they went in search of an equaliser.

The hosts should have been level on 87 minutes when Thomas Muller slipped Lewandowski through on goal, but the Polish striker sent his lob wide of the upright.

In the end, 2-1 was how the score remained as Los Blancos will head to the Santiago Bernabeu next week with the lead, and two away goals to boot.
