Lazio 1-0 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich went down 1-0 to Lazio in their UEFA Champions League last 16 first leg on Wednesday night.

Following a 3-0 demolition by Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend in the league, Bayern recalled four players in the form of Raphael Guerreiro, Joshua Kimmich, Noussair Mazraoui and Thomas Muller, who joined Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala in support of Harry Kane upfront.

This was only the third competitive meeting between the two sides, with Bayern coming out on top in another round 16 tie although they did secure a victory in Italy as well.

Thomas Tuchel's charges carved out a few openings in the first stanza, as they dominated Lazio but were not accurate in front of goal.

The game came to life midway into the second stanza after the Bavarians were reduced to ten men following the red-card of Dayot Upamacano, who left the pitch after he conceded a penalty with a bad challenge in the box.

Ciro Immobile made no mistake from the spot-kick, as he sent Maurizio Sarri's men ahead and ultimately gave them a narrow advantage heading into the second-leg in Germany.

Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 Real Sociedad

Paris Saint-Germain gained a big advantage from the round of 16 first-leg after beating Real Sociedad 2-0 at Parc des Princes.

PSG made wholesale changes to the side that beat Lille over the weekend, as the brought back their big guns, Kylian Mbappe, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos and Vitinha among others.

There was a flurry of chances in both ends of the pitch in the first stanza but both teams were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

However, Mbappe eventually broke the deadlock just before the hour-mark with a strike into the top corner after he teed up by Marquinhos in the box.

Bradley Barcola doubled the lead for Luis Enrique's charges troops with 19 minutes remaining after a strike from a solo run in the box.
