Borussia Dortmund 1-3 FC Barcelona (3-5 on aggregate)

FC Barcelona advanced to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League despite a 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.

The Spanish giants came into the clash with a healthy lead after thrashing Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg.

However, Dortmund gave themselves some early hope after taking the lead on 14 minute when Serhou Guirassy converted a penalty.

The German outfit doubled their lead five minutes after the halftime break as Guirassy completed his brace after being set up by Ramy Bensebaini.

Ramy Bensebaini went from hero to villain six minutes later when he diverted the ball into his own net to hand Barcelona a first goal on the night and a fifth in the tie overall.

Guirassy did complete his hat-trick in the 76th minute to increase Dortmund's lead on the night, but Barcelona were able to see out the closing stages and book their spot in the semi-finals.

Aston Villa 3-2 Paris Saint-Germain (4-5 on aggregate)

Paris Saint-Germain booked their spot in the semi-final despite losing 3-2 to Aston Villa in the second leg.

The newly crowned Ligue 1 champions picked up from where they left off in the first leg by taking the lead as Emiliano Martinez spilled the ball into the path of Achraf Hakimi, who fired home from close range.

PSG doubled their lead in the 27th minute when a well-worked counter-attack ended with Ousmane Dembele picking out Nuno Mendes, who took one touch before firing into the far corner, making it 5-1 on aggregate.

Villa did give themselves some hope ten minutes before the break via a deflected effort from Youri Tielemans.

A superb start to the second half saw John McGinn put Villa level on the night in the 55th minute with a deflected effort from distance.

The hosts then took the lead on the night when Ezri Konsa turned home Marcus Rashford's cross to make it 3-2 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate.

However, the comeback fell short, with Luis Enrique's men seeing out the closing stages to seal their spot in the semi-finals.
