The most prestigious club competition in European football returns this week, and so will many bright African stars to grace it.
Many of Africa's greatest-ever players have provided some iconic moments in the tournament, and those participating in the competition this season will be hoping to achieve similar feats.
One such footballer who is returning to the competition is Chelsea's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese striker has been absent from the UCL for the past four years, but will now make his comeback with Thomas Tuchel's side.
Despite his brief hiatus from the showpiece, the 33-year-old remains one of the most prolific African stars to have played in the Champions League with his 15 goals to date.
The Blues will become only the second team he has played for in the competition, the other being Borussia Dortmund.
Another player who has only played for one side in the European Cup so far, but will represent a new team in it this season, is Sadio Mane.
The 2022/23 campaign will be the first time he will be playing for a team that is not Liverpool in the Champions League, and the new Bayern Munich hitman will be looking to pick up where he left off last season, when his five UCL goals helped get Jurgen Klopp to his fourth final.
Overall, Mane has 24 Champions League strikes to his name, making him the fourth-most prolific African star of all time in the tournament.
The man ahead of him is arguably the greatest African footballer all time, Samuel Eto'o.
A two-time UCL winner with Barcelona, scoring in the 2005/06 and 2008/09 finals, Cameroon's all-time leading goalscorer would go on to accomplish an unprecedented feat with Italian side Inter Milan when they became the first and only Serie A side ever to complete a treble in 2011.
Altogether, Eto'o found the back of the net 33 times in the Champions League.
