Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has commented on the controversial red card Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon received in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday.
Furious Buffon Slams Ref For Late Penalty Call
The 40-year-old veteran shot-stopper was sent off for angrily remonstrating with the referee following a late penalty that was awarded to Real.
Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to score the goal that would take Los Blancos through to the next round, making it 4-3 to the Spanish giants on aggregate.
Zidane sympathised with the Italian after the match, hailing the gloveman for the career he has had despite the way his UCL campaign ended.
"I don't think that he deserves to go out in this way, but there's no going back on it now," the Frenchman said, according to Sportskeeda.
"What happened at the end of the game won't change or take anything away from what he has done in the game.
"He's a magnificent player and this perhaps wasn't his last Champions League appearance."
Reports: Real Juve Stars Clash In Tunnel
