French giants Paris Saint-Germain have released an update on Sergio Ramos ahead of the second leg of their round of 16 tie against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The Spanish centre-back has endured a difficult debut season in Paris since his free-agent move to the Ligue 1 giants last year, having made just five appearances across all competitions.
Injuries and fitness issues have kept Ramos out for most of the 2022/23 campaign, with the 35-year-old yet to play a single minute in Europe so far.
Following the draw for the first knockout round, many would have hoped the ex-Sevilla prodigy would have been fit to go up against the club he once captained, but PSG confirmed he will be unavailable for their trip to Madrid.
Releasing a medical report on Monday, the club said on their website: "Sergio Ramos will train on his own until the end of the week".
PSG also announced that Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera will resume training with his teammates at the end of the week, while there is concern surrounding Kylian Mbappe's availability.
The French superstar picked up a knock during a team session on Monday, and, while the first few tests have been reassuring, the club says further examinations will be done ahead of Wednesday.
Los Blancos received heavy criticism following their 1-0 loss to PSG at the Parc des Princes two weeks ago, but the scoreline could have been worse if not for Lionel Messi's missed penalty in the second half.
It was Mbappe who turned out to be the difference between the two sides after his incredible solo effort saw him grab all three points for the French giants in stoppage-time.
