In remarkable fashion, LaLiga side Villarreal cemented their place in the last-eight of the tournament following a 3-0 away win over Juventus on Wednesday night.
The teams went into the second leg of their round of 16 clash tied at 1-1 on aggregate, with Massimiliano Allegri admitting ahead of the clash that he was expecting a difficult game in Turin.
Even he, however, might have been surprised by Villarreal's late flurry of goals after all three of their strikes coming from the 78th minute onwards through Gerard Moreno, Pau Torres and Arnaut Danjuma.
Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea also booked a spot in the quarter-finals following a 2-1 win over Lille in France, winning 4-1 on aggregate over the two legs despite the controversy surrounding the London giants.
On Tuesday night, Atletico Madrid's 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford secured their place in Friday's draw, while Benfica defeated Ajax Amsterdam over the two-legged tie to advance.
