A Chelsea star has disclosed that he wouldn't mind paying for travelling costs when the team plays away from West London.
Klopp Speaks On Salah's Contract Standoff
German starlet Kai Havertz has confirmed that, if need be, he would not have an issue with fitting the bill for his travel costs when the Blues travel for away fixtures.
This comes in light of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich being added to the United Kingdom's sanction list for his affiliation with Russian president Vladimir Putin.
The European champions' budget has been capped to £20,000 (R392 641) for when they go on away trips, but Havertz, who scored the solitary goal in Chelsea's 2021 UEFA Champions League final triumph, is confident that their dressing room would not mind covering the cost of travel.
"I would pay, it's no problem," the 22-year-old said in the pre-match press conference ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second leg trip to the French city of Lille, according to Football.London.
"For us to come to the games, that's the most important thing. I think there are a lot of harder things in the world at the moment if we have to take the train or the bus to an away game. I would pay. It's no problem."
Havertz, the club's second-most expensive signing ever, has seemingly started to justify his price tag. The German has found the back of the net five times in his last five games in all competitions and is adamant that, despite all the controversy surrounding the club, the players are focussed on progressing to the competition's quarter-finals.
"I think we are all professional footballers. Everyone knows it's a strange situation for everyone in the club right now, but we are the players, we have to focus on playing football, on the matches, that's the best we can do," he added.
"All the other stuff, the club has to sort out by themselves, that's not up to the players. I cannot talk about it too much because we are focused on the games and that's all we can do at the moment."
