NEW: Man Utd 'Make Decision' On Mainoo

NEW: Man Utd 'Make Decision' On Mainoo

Manchester United have reportedly made a new decision on talented 18-year-old midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who is widely considered one of the club's greatest prospects.

The English-born talent has been a joy to watch for United supporters during a difficult second season under Erik ten Hag, with his match-winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers last week elevating his status in the squad.

An injury picked up in pre-season delayed his integration into the first-team group, but Mainoo's seven consecutive starts in the Premier League since December have seen him become integral in the side's midfield.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, his form has led to the Red Devils preparing a new contract proposal for their latest academy product, which will include a pay rise.

It is suggested that the 20-time English champions have held discussions with Mainoo's representatives to advance talks over a new deal, with the club seeing him as "crucial" to their project going forward.

The player is expected to start on Sunday when United take on Aston Villa in the Premier League at Villa Park in what is likely to be a grudge encounter following December's result.

Unai Emery's men led the Manchester-based giants 2-0 at Old Trafford in a league game late last year, but ultimately succumbed to a 3-2 defeat after an incredible turnaround from United.

Mainoo, meanwhile, has made 16 appearances for the club's senior team since his debut in 2023, netting twice in all competitions.
