Man Utd CEO 'Sets' Shock EPL Title Deadline

Man Utd CEO 'Sets' Shock EPL Title Deadline

Manchester United's CEO has reportedly set a Premier League title deadline for the club.

Manchester United's CEO has reportedly set a date by which the senior team must win the Premier League, something the club has not celebrated since 2013.

The Red Devils have not claimed a league trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson's final season in charge.

Ferguson left the club at the end of the 2012/13 campaign on a high after finishing 11 points ahead of crosstown rivals Manchester City.

Since then, the 20-time English champions have come second on only two occasions – in 2018 under Jose Mourinho and in 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

New United CEO Omar Berrada, who arrived from City, is believed to have set his sights on the club achieving league success by 2028 in leaked comments carried by The Athletic

The 46-year-old was reportedly addressing United staff when he suggested the target was to restore the team's status as the best in England ahead of the club's 150-year anniversary.

"I think it's the club's 150-year anniversary in 2028… if our trajectory is leading to a very good place in that sort of time-frame, then we'd be very happy with that. Because it's not easy to turn Manchester United into the world's best football team," he said.

"The ultimate target for Manchester United – and it's always going to be thus, really – is that we should be challenging for the Premier League and challenging for the Champions League. It's one of the biggest clubs in the world."

The Red Devils will next be in Premier League action against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United have failed to beat Spurs in their previous three meetings, with their last victory over the London club dating back to October 2022.
