According to Foot Mercato, the Reds could be dealt yet another massive blow in their pursuit of a new midfielder as one of their targets is now said to favour a move to their arch-rivals United.

Ryan Gravenberch has been the subject of much interest from Premier League teams in this window, having fallen down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena, with the English top division's two most successful teams said to be vying for his services.

Having missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention to new targets, and the Netherlands international is believed to be among the names who are being seriously considered by the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League-winning head coach.

The six-time European champions are reportedly on the verge of securing the services of another Bundesliga star in Wataru Endo, after seeing Fabinho and Jordan Henderson leave Anfield in this off-season, and would seemingly like to add Gravenberch to their roster too, but the aforementioned French publication claims that the 21-year-old would prefer a reunion with his ex-Ajax Amsterdam boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford instead.

It is believed, however, that the Red Devils still have to get rid of some players before they can bring in more reinforcements.

The likes of Donny van de Beek, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay have all been given the green light to leave the Theatre of Dreams, but with those exits still pending, Gravenberch may have to wait a bit longer if he is to make the switch to the Theatre of Dreams a reality.
