Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net on his return to action for Juventus, who recorded a 2-0 win over SPAL in Serie A action on Saturday afternoon.

Ronaldo returned to the Juve starting line-up after being rested during the side's 2-1 victory away to Brescia on Tuesday evening.

The Portuguese star nearly marked his return with a goal after 20 minutes, but his volley forced SPAL shot-stopper Etirt Berisha into a superb save.

It was one-way traffic in the first half and Juve should have gone ahead on 35 minutes but Paulo Dybala saw his powerful strike turned away by Berisha, who had frustrated the hosts early on.

The SPAL goalkeeper was eventually broken on the stroke of halftime thanks as Sami Khedira did well to tee up Mirelam Pjanic, who sent a fine first-time finish into the far corner.

The chances continued to fall for the home side as Ronaldo turned provider to pick out Khedira, who could only steer his header straight Berisha after 55 minutes.

Ronaldo eventually doubled the home side's lead in the 78th minute after getting on the end of Dybala's cross to nod home at the far post for his third goal of the season.

SPAL, meanwhile, were unable to find away past the stern Juventus defence as the encounter ended 2-0 in Turin on Saturday afternoon.
