The visitors created the first real threat in the 19th minute when Felipe Anderson swung in a cross from the right that found Ciro Immobile on the edge of the box. However, his shot towards the bottom corner of the goal was brilliantly stopped by Samir Handanovic. Lazio went close again in the first half when a corner kick picked out Sergej Milinkovic-Savic but he was put under pressure by defenders and directed his header over the top. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 54th minute as Inter took the lead. Milinkovic-Savic lost possession to Ever Banega in a dangerous position and he thumped the ball into the top right corner of the Lazio goal for a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later it was 2-0 to the hosts. Antonio Candreva was given room on the right wing and he crossed towards Mauro Icardi who glanced home a header. The result was virtually secured in the 65th minute as the Nerazzurri slotted their third. Icardi came within inches of completing his hat-trick in the 81st minute when Yuto Nagatomo's cross was knocked on by Rodrigo Palacio towards the forward, but his shot rattled the woodwork instead, as the hosts cruised to victory.
