Retired Brazil international Robinho is reportedly a step closer to serving a nine-year jail sentence in his home country.

In 2017, the former Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan star was convicted for his part in a group sexual assault following an incident at a Milan nightclub in 2013.
Italian authorities, however, have had difficulties in ensuring Robinho does time in prison in Italy due to complications over his extradition.
Brazil does not extradite citizens abroad, but an update in the case suggests the 39-year-old could be made serve his nine-year prison sentence in the South American country.
According to the Daily Mail, public prosecutors in Brazil said on Tuesday that Robinho should be jailed on home soil to demonstrate the nation's efforts in combatting crime.
Brazil's Public Prosecutor's Office reportedly told the High Court of Justice that "a failure to heed the Italian request risked allowing Robinho to flout the law with impunity".

Robinho, who was capped on 100 occasions for the Selecao, was one of six men convicted for the sexual assault of an Albanian woman in 2013, during his time at the Rossoneri.
