One of the greatest footballing families in the sport's history continued its legacy this past weekend when Daniel Maldini followed in his father and grandfather's famous footsteps at AC Milan.
The 18-year-old made his debut for Milan as a late substitute in his side's 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona on Sunday, becoming the third player from his family to represent the Italian giants' senior side.
Maldini's father, Paolo – who is the Rossoneri's most-capped player of all time – and his grandfather, Cesare, both captained the club during their respective stints at the San Siro.
Both Paolo and Cesare, the latter of whom passed away in 2016, also represented Italy during their careers, with the former making more than 100 appearances for the Azzurri.
While both his father and grandfather were acclaimed defenders, Daniel Maldini plays as an attacking midfielder or forward, and that is the position he made his debut in on Sunday, replacing Samu Castillejo in the final minutes of the match.
His older brother Christian currently plays for lower-league side Pro Sesto, having previously featured for AC Milan at youth level.
