Inter Milan Chief Slams Lukaku – 'He's Disrespectful'

Inter Milan's sporting director has stated that Romelu Lukaku was disrespectful for his controversial exit from the club this past off-season.

An Inter Milan chief has lambasted their former attacker Romelu Lukaku following his recent, and controversial, departure from the club.

Last season, the former Manchester United star returned to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium to rediscover his lost form, and while that spell started off plagued by injury, Belgium's all-time top goalscorer gradually began to regain his goalscoring boots.

This led to rumours suggesting that the forward could return to Milan once again on permanent basis at the end of that campaign, with the Nerazzurri believed to have held talks with Chelsea over a possible move.

During the discussions between those two clubs, however, it emerged that the 30-year-old was also negotiating terms with Inter's bitter rivals Juventus over a possible deal.

This news caused the three-time European champions to abandon talks with Lukaku's camp.

He was ultimately loaned out to AS Roma for this season, and following the Giallorossi's recent match against Inter in Serie A, Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio lamented the way in which Lukaku left the club.

"I prefer not to talk about a player currently at another club, I have never done that in recent months," Ausilio told Radio Serie A.

"I say that I like to think about the present and the future, Lukaku is part of the past. With him, we won a Scudetto, lost two finals, and he brought us an important capital gain.

"What happened? I prefer not to talk about it. All I'm saying is that there has to be politeness and respect: Things were obviously going on, but at a certain point these conditions came to an end.

"There are deals that don't get done, but if there is respect, it is never a problem.

"When, on the other hand, one hides or sends replies via other people, then one thinks about moving on.

"For me, it is a closed chapter since July 8, there are no regrets.

"The famous phone call to Lukaku? It was something decided, nothing special. I told Romelu what I thought, after I hadn't been able to contact him for a while."
