Juventus secured their 15th Coppa Italia title after defeating Atalanta 1-0 in the final on Wednesday night.

Result: Atalanta 0-1 Juventus

Date: 15 May 2024

Venue: Stadio Olimpico

The two sides were meeting for the third time season, with both encounters in the Serie A ending in draws, while Juventus were unbeaten in their last five matches against Atalanta in all competitions.

The Old Lady got off to the perfect start after opening the scoring after just four minutes as Dusan Vlahovic latched onto a pass from Andrea Cambiaso before calmly slotting home from close range.

Atalanta have been knocking the ball around quite nicely since going behind, but they have struggled to carve out any clear-cut chances to trouble Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

That proved to be the trend for the rest of the half as Juventus remained resolute at the back as Atalanta threw everything forward in search of the equaliser.

Atalanta looked more livelier in the second half as Berat Djimsiti did well to pick out the run of Teun Koopmeiners in the box, but the Dutch midfielder sent his header over the target just before the hour mark.

Both sides made changes for the final 20 minutes of the second half as Juventus introduced Yildiz in place of Chiesa, while Atalanta were forced to take of Martin de Roon through injury as Rafael Toloi was brought on.

Juventus thought they had doubled their lead in the 72nd minute when Vlahovic found the back of the net once again, but the celebrations were cut short after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) spotted an offside.

Atalanta nearly sent the game to extra-time after Ademola Lookman unleashed a powerful strike from distance but the effort was kept out by the woodwork for a second time in the game, as Juventus held on to claim the cup.
