Olympics: Argentina Files Complaint To FIFA After Morocco Game

In a press release published on the AFA's website, it is confirmed that a complaint has been filed to world football's governing body.

This came after fans stormed the field after Argentina scored what they believed to be an equaliser deep into injury-time, leading to a long delay in the game.

Only after the match was suspended, players from both teams learned that the game was still not completed, before returning to the field to finish the remaining three minutes, by which time the goal scored was ruled out for offside by VAR.

"The Argentine Football Association informs that, due to the events that have become public knowledge today in the match between our U23 team and its counterpart from Morocco, a formal complaint has been submitted to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in order for the necessary regulatory measures to be taken for an event of such gravity," the AFA's press release read.

"It is imperative to guarantee the safety of the protagonists for the peaceful development of this beautiful sport that is football and from the Mother House of Argentine Football, we will do what is necessary to make this happen."

Argentina's U23 side are being represented by senior players Julian Alvarez, Nicolas Otamendi, who is captaining the side, Thiago Almada and goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.
