Following the conclusion of the tournament earlier this month, which ended with Spain beating England 2-1 in the final, Europe's football governing body has taken action against seven countries following their supporters' behaviour.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, UEFA announced that Croatia have been fined £41 978 (about R1 million) and have been banned from selling tickets to their fans for their next competitive match due to their supporters' "racist and discriminatory" actions.

Croatia are set to take on Portugal away from home in the UEFA Nations League in September, only weeks after European football resumes.

Romania have been fined £33 583 (about R800 000), meanwhile, for similar incidents. Albania have been punished £25 183 (about R600 000) and been handed a one-match ban from selling tickets to fans, suspended for a probationary period of two years.

Added to that, the associations representing Hungary, Slovenia and Serbia have also all received the same punishment for their fans' racist and discriminatory behaviour.

Austria's FA has been slapped with the same suspended ban, although they have been given a smaller fine of £16 788 (about R400 400) following their supporters' discriminatory actions in their second group match against Poland.
