Henry Linked With Shock National Team Job

Thierry Henry has been linked with a surprise national team ahead of the Olympic Games.

The Arsenal legend is currently preparing the France U-23 side for the Olympics in the coming weeks.

However, Henry could be set for a return to senior football as Fabrizio Romano revealed that he is on the shortlist of candidates to take over the head coach rule for United States (USMNT).

The USMNT parted ways with Gregg Berhalter a couple weeks after the team's disappointing showing at the Copa America, where they were eliminated in the group stages.

"One more name the USMNT has discussed is Thierry Henry," Romano wrote on Friday, as per the Daily Mail.

"Thierry Henry is now busy with the Olympics with the French national team, but after that, keep an eye on Thierry Henry because he's another name they discussed internally."

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was reportedly offered the chance at the USMNT job, but turned it down as he taking some time away from the game.

Romano added that another France legend Patrick Vieria is also a name being consider after he recently departed Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.
